How to Choose a Pot that Compliments Your Plant

Pots are available in many sizes, shapes and material used to create beautiful containers for both the home and garden.

“Do you have a design in mind? Whether you prefer a trendy look or you’re going for a more editorial style - there's a container to fit your home or garden.”

How to choose a container...

Here are a few thoughts in choosing a nursery/houseplant container:

1. What are you using the container for.

2. What size container do you need.

3. Our you using the container indoors or outdoors?

4. What kind of container are you looking for? Ceramic, Clay, etc.

One of the most sought-after containers are the ones used to grow annuals and other small plants in and they can be anything from plastic to concrete, depending on your budget and lifestyle. Containers can be hung of a fence, used on a deck, placed in the house or used in the landscape. They are available in many styles, shapes and colors. Choosing the right size pot is important. You should consider what will be grown in the container, how fast it grows and what type of sun/shade conditions the plant will get. Since light colored containers reflect heat and dark colored containers absorb heat, this may be a factor in choosing the container that's best for the plant be placed in the container. Colored containers can also a bit of excitement to an otherwise drab location.

Drainage is extremely important when choosing a container. Many, but not all containers have drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. When using the container where water damage can occur, we recommend purchasing a container saucer.
